Historia de un Conventillo

In the early 20th century, old Christian convents became Conventillos, collective boarding houses that provided shelter to immigrants arriving in America in search new opportunities.

These small yet lively spaces fostered both connection and conflict, shaping the lives of those who called them home. More than just a place to live, they became symbols of cultural fusion, where traditions blended and new identities emerged.

Conventillos became the truest expression of the ever changing nature of some of the most iconic cities in the world. At the heart of it all was the patio—a central gathering place where daily life unfolded.

Clothes swayed in lines hanging out to dry, conversations and gossip filled the air, mates were shared among neighbors, and the sound of tango echoed through the walls, capturing the essence of an era.

Nosotros

Created by restaurateurs Leandro Cabanillas and Marcos Caillet-Bois, this intimate garden-style venue brings a friendly, laid-back drinking spot to the area.

Our concept pays homage to the 'conventillos' of Argentina, where social life flourished in communal patios. At Conventillo, we're recreating that sense of warmth and togetherness, blending Italian and Argentine influences to craft an experience that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
